Mission
Our economic, political, and social life today is largely based on modern communication and information technology. This includes not only traditional IT systems but also cyber-physical systems where IT interacts with the physical world, for example in manufacturing, transportation, and energy distribution. This increased dependence on IT poses numerous new challenges, in particular for securing these systems.
The missions of the Institute of Information Security are:
- To contribute to the foundations for building secure systems, that is methods, techniques, and tools for improving the reliability and security of complex systems.
- To propose new systems and approaches to address the pressing security issues of our society, industry, and government. Our aim is to demonstrate the feasibility with open-source prototypes.
- To foresee and identify future challenges in Information Security.
- To educate university students and train researchers in our field.
- To be a center for collaboration with researchers, businesses, and administration on all questions related to Information Security and its impact on society.
